Bekah’s Top Puppy Picks: Cuddly, Playful, Confident, Affectionate

Can you guess Bekah's "Puppy Picks" for our current litters?

Puppy picks
If you’ve followed Carrier Family Doodles for any length of time, you know that we are committed to home-raising our puppies so that they are well-socialized and well-nurtured during their formative first 8 weeks. Bekah is our puppy “primary caregiver” and she is amazing with all the puppies. She gets to know them very well, which is great when it comes to making perfect puppy matches based on temperament/personality.

Bekah isn’t supposed to have favorites, but she pretty much always does. We’re going to introduce some of Bekah’s favorites, or, her top “puppy picks”ย  from our current bunch of puppies (adoption dates coming up in September 2024).ย  Get in touch if you’d like to know more about any of them!

Bloom is one of Cocoa’s puppies, expected to be 20-25 lbs adult size. She is a cute Phantom. Bekah initially fell in love with her because of her temperament; she is confident and friendly, but when you pick her up she is a “perfect snuggler.” Bekah said, “She’ll just sink into you!” Bloom has “super soft fur and big eyes.”

While all of our puppies are well-socialized and enjoy people, Bloom has the confidence and calm temperament that are often sought after for a therapy dog. Although we don’t do prerequisite temperament testing recommended prior to therapy training, we have had several of our dogs successfully undergo therapy training and we always suggest the “calm and confident” type.

When it comes to meeting sensory or emotional support needs, Bloom’sย  soft, pettable coat and her snuggly natureย  could make her an ideal choice, if that’s what you’re looking for.

Bloom is also a favorite of our 4-year-old, Gideon. She will often just lay in his lap.

Bluette has a personality similar to Bloom, but she is slightly more playful. She is one of Bekah’s top picks, and is also a favorite of our 12-year-old son, Enoch. He enjoys holding her and spends a lot of time with her. Like Bloom, Bluette is “super soft.” She has some blue in both her eyes (but neither are fully blue).

At 4 weeks old, puppies rarely venture outside of our dedicated “puppy room,” but Bluette has randomly come into the kitchen, wagging her tail, on more than one occasion.

Blueberry is “the funniest” in how she plays. She spins, hops, paws, and occasionally growls. All perfectly adorable! She keeps us smiling with her puppy antics. You can see a cute short on YouTube featuring her funny first photo session.

Slick is a favorite because Bekah LOVES Tuxedos and they are rare with our Mamas. According to Bekah, Sharp is “perfect” in his markings. He is friendly and playful. He’d make a great family dog! Sharp (Slick’s brother) is also a handsome tuxedo. Bekah says that of the two boys, Sharp is a little more laid back.
